I had a chance to talk with Langdon Gilkey shortly before he died. His “Naming the Whirlwind” was important to me, and I was honored that he would take the time to chat. He mentioned that he had recently taken up a regular practice of drawing. I was surprised that a person of words would find this endeavor so captivating. I’ve since come to see it as an important, core practice, something like a form of prayer.
